Hosted by Christie Brinkley, with Special Performance by Two-time GRAMMY Nominee Martha Wash, The Skin Cancer Foundation Honors La Roche-Posay and HealthCentral at 2025 Champions for Change Gala

Annual Champions for Change Event Raises Funds to Support Lifesaving Programs

NEW YORK (March 25, 2025) The Skin Cancer Foundation, the leading nonprofit organization for skin cancer education, has announced that actress, entrepreneur and author Christie Brinkley will host this year’s Champions for Change Gala. Ms. Brinkley was inspired to host the event after her own recent skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. She hopes that sharing her story will help raise awareness for the importance of early detection and treatment when it comes to the most common form of cancer in the U.S. La Roche-Posay will receive the Foundation’s Champions for Change Award at the event, in recognition of its long-standing partnership and commitment to the Foundation’s mission. And the digital media brand HealthCentral will receive the Foundation’s Media Impact Award for its exemplary efforts to raise awareness for “Skin Cancer in Skin of Color,” through a yearlong collaboration with the Foundation. The evening will conclude with a special performance by two-time Grammy nominee Martha Wash.

“We are grateful to have gained so many steadfast and generous supporters over the years,” says Deborah S. Sarnoff, MD, president of The Skin Cancer Foundation. “But even among this incredible group, La Roche-Posay and HealthCentral stand out this year due to their unwavering commitment to our mission. As we come together at this event to raise funds for our lifesaving educational programs, we also celebrate the strides we’ve made toward eradicating skin cancer and look forward to what we can accomplish in the future.”

La Roche-Posay has been a member of the Foundation’s Corporate Council since 2007, and many of its sun protection products have earned the Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation. Part of the L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty Group, La Roche-Posay’s mission is to offer dermatological skin care, including sunscreens for all skin types. For the past 15 years, La Roche-Posay has supported the fight against skin cancer through its annual public health awareness and educational campaign, SOS — Save Our Skin, which educates the public on the dangers of UV rays, develops broad-spectrum sunscreens suitable for all skin tones and types and encourages easy integration of sun protection into daily life, including annual skin cancer screenings.

“We are honored to be recognized by The Skin Cancer Foundation for our shared mission of sun safety and skin cancer prevention,” says Rachelle Mladjenovic, general manager of La Roche-Posay USA.

HealthCentral, the flagship website of HealthCentral Corporation, is a leading media platform for people living with chronic or serious illnesses. The Foundation is proud to partner with HealthCentral on its “Skin Cancer in Skin of Color” campaign, a series of educational online articles and social media posts focused on the prevention, detection and treatment of skin cancer in people of color.

“HealthCentral shares The Skin Cancer Foundation’s commitment to addressing disparities in diagnosis, treatment and access to care when it comes to skin cancer in people of color,” says Jo-Ann Strangis, chief content officer of HealthCentral. “We are delighted to be recognized for our work on this topic, raising awareness and educating our audience on how skin cancer affects Black, Hispanic and other communities of color, and ways they can advocate for their treatment needs.”
