The Skin Sense Award Gala honors those who have played a pivotal role in educating the public about the importance of sun protection at a time when skin cancer is increasing at epidemic rates. This year’s event honored David Suliteanu, president and chief executive officer of Sephora USA was honored alongside beauty expert, Lois Joy Johnson, the former beauty and fashion director of More magazine. Dr. Jonathan Levine, co-founder of GoSmile presented the award to Suliteanu, while Dr. Daniel C. Baker, top plastic surgeon and gala benefit chair, introduced Johnson.

“We are delighted with the success of this year’s event,” said Perry Robins, MD, President, and The Skin Cancer Foundation. “We’ve had tremendous support and we are very appreciative to everyone involved.”

We were also pleased to partner with Neutrogena this year to host a cocktail reception for dermatologists and beauty editors in the lovely Rotunda Room of the Pierre. Beauty editors from O, The Oprah Magazine, Marie Claire, Shape, Star, and Family Circle, as well as many others were in attendance to meet with dermatologists to discuss new trends in the beauty industry.

The Skin Sense Award Gala has been held since 1994, when the Foundation initiated a program to recognize the pivotal role in skin care and sun protection played by select members of the health and cosmetics industry. With the establishment of a special honor, The Skin Sense Award, provision was made for annual recognition of exceptional achievement in the skin care field.
